Community Input Process
2005-2006 Public Access, Open Space,
& Natural Resources Preservation Fund Commission
The Open Space Commission will be sharing its 2005 report findings and recommendations, as well as gathering community members’ perspectives on issues relating to access, open space and natural resources preservation for its 2005-2006 report through Regional Community Workshops at the following dates and locations:
Wednesday, October 19, 2005
6:00 to 8:00pm at Kilauea Neighborhood Center
Thursday, October 20, 2005
6:00 to 8:00p. at Piikoi Conference, Rooms A & B, Lihue Civic Center
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
6:00 to 8:00pm at Eleele School Cafeteria
Workshop agendas are available at:

The workshops will include a mapping exercise and a Community Input Questionnaire. Participants will have the option of turning in the questionnaire at the meeting or mailing, faxing or hand delivering completed forms to the Planning Department. Public input strongly directs the content of the Commission’s annual recommendations to the Kauai Council and County Administration.
If you cannot attend these meetings, the Community Input Questionnaire will be available on the County website on or before Monday, October 17, 2005. Questionnaires will also be available on the County website, at the Planning Department (next to the Division of Motor Vehicles), at public libraries, select stores around the island, and at Ka Leo o Kauai meetings.

The deadline for the 2005-2006 Community Input Questionnaires is on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 4:30pm
Any suggestions received after this time will be considered in during the Fiscal Year 2006—2007 process.
All are encouraged to attend the Regional Community Meetings. But, if you cannot make the meetings, we hope that you will take time to express your feelings through the Community Input Questionnaire.

The Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Fund Commission was established by the Kauai County Council through enactment of Ordinance No. 812 on December 15, 2003. The Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Fund Commission is charged with preparing annual recommendations to the Council for the use of the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Fund.
