Panama Fishing Postcards

This is for those of you who
fish the spring streams, creeks, ponds and lakes of
Chautauqua County. We know it's never too early to start
thinking and equiping yourtself for the coming
season.
These cards were purchased
at Schiller's General Store on Panama, New York , in
1978. From the look of the dard display and the condition
of the cards I would guess the cards had sat, year after
year, for about twenty years before I bought them.
There were several otyher cards
in this series, but I only got these four and never
mailed any off. It was the comic style that caught my
attention. It reminded my of cartoons from the 20's and
30's; "The Katzenjammer Twins", "Mutt & Jeff", and
even "Rube Goldberg".
Today, the subject of many
"local" postcards are of bikini clad Playmates or
baby-oiled stud-muffins. Although the fishing postcards
didn't have much directly to do with Panama, they do
remind be of Lake Chautauqua in the 50's.
